The staff here at FBC is committed to our mission.
We desire to serve a community of transforming, Christ-centered worshippers who build each other up to live out God's Kingdom-focused plan for the home, the Lowell community, and the nations.
Let us introduce ourselves to you...
Pastor Jon Pickens
I have been serving as the lead pastor at FBC since January of 2012.
After serving students in the local church or camp ministry since 1994, God made it very clear that He wanted to use me to serve the local church by leading adults to a deeper level of discipleship.
My passion is to see people pursue Jesus and be on mission with the Great Commission... to make disciples.
I long to see Jesus' last words be the church's first priority.
I graduated in 1996 from Cedarville University, and earned an MAR in Discipleship and Church Ministry from Liberty University School of Divinity in 2016.
My wife, Trish, is my bride of 21 years and we have two children... Tori and Caleb.
Tori graduated from Lowell High School in 2015 and Caleb will graduate in 2017.
I love sports!
I love to play golf and basketball with the guys.
I also love to read and hang out with friends and family, and I dabble in music.
If you come into the church, you will likely hear me break out in a random praise song... I can't help myself.
I am blessed to be a part of such a great church family!

(Director of Children's Ministries)
I have been serving as the Children’s Ministry Director at FBC since March 2016.
Prior to serving on staff at FBC, I was a preschool director, in the local school district.
I began teaching in 2008, as a preschool teacher, and enjoyed the many relationships with both students and their families.
God is using my experiences from preschool education to help equip families to make their home the primary place where faith is nurtured and lived out.
I am a Cornerstone University graduate with a degree in Elementary Education.
My husband J.J. and I have been married since 1999.
We have three children - Caleb, Zach and Lauren.
I enjoy being outside, spending time with my kids and crafting.
My family enjoys running road races and volunteering at camp when we have the opportunity.
I am excited to be on staff, and look forward to helping families make their home a place of discipleship.
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to send me an email.
Hello. I have been the Administrative Secretary of FBC Lowell since November, 2001.
Following high school graduation I went to the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music with the hope of becoming a pastor’s wife and being the church secretary!
I actually met my husband a few years later.
He is not a pastor, but works for a Christian organization. Neil and I have been attending this church since November, 1980, shortly after our marriage.
We have raised our children, Alan and Amanda, here and became involved in various ministries of the church throughout the years.
Our children are now both married, have three children each, and are very involved in their own churches.
Even with reading through the Bible several times and countless books concerning the Bible, I find it amazing how daily I see something new that God is showing me through His Word.
I was saved at the age of five and am still growing as a child of my heavenly Father.
Neil and I love to travel and have been through many U.S. States together along with Canada and Mexico.
I like to crochet, make jewelry, and do Sudoku.
Someday I plan to get back into oil painting.

(Building and Properties Manager)
Hello, I’m Russ Race!
I have been on staff at FBC since 2011 when I worked part time as the custodian.
I currently fill the role of Building and Properties Manager and can see the benefit of years spent working in maintenance and construction.
I have been married to my incredible wife since 1989 after dating for 7 years! We have 4 children, the youngest just entering high school, as well as an amazing daughter-in-law.
My younger years were spent chasing adventure and excitement in pretty much anything I did, so my body now says it’s time to slow down, enjoy relationships, and serve God.
I really enjoy the opportunities that I get to teach and lead small groups here at FBC.
I seem to learn so much more than I can possibly teach, and I get to smile and laugh while I do it!
I still enjoy playing sports, hunting, and raising a variety of animals at home, I just seem to do it at a less painful and intense level.
Feel free to email me here.
I have been a part of First Baptist Church for a little over 45 years.
I have served in several areas during that time and still serve in various capacities today.
I am one of many members of FBC who volunteer at Flat River Outreach Ministries, and I enjoy reading and crocheting.
My husband, Herb, and I have six children, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and we love family gatherings for birthdays, Christmas or just because.
