WHO IS JESUS?
Of all the questions that could be asked, this one is the most important for anyone, everyone, anywhere, everywhere, any time for all of time!
The answer to it is why we are what we are and why we do what we do and why we have put everything on the line for now and forever!

HERE'S THE PROBLEM: Two things we all know.. there is a God, and we are not! We know there is a God and we all have erred, wronged, failed, yes, sinned. The issue is how do we find a way to be in favor with Him given our track record and our lack of fitness to be able to occupy His holy presence? It's not easy. All other religions include the component of mankind "doing" something, working out some sort of goodness to counteract, offset the badness we all possess and have perpetrated. But is it possible to buy off God and get our record against ourselves expunged?
If you swiped a dime from your child, or your parent, or a friend.... we both know it would be wrong, a sin, and we would owe, for sure. Thankfully, payback could be possible if we wanted to make it right. But, it is another thing to reach across the counter at the bank and swipe a dime from the teller's drawer! The offense takes on the gravity of the nature of the one offended, in this case, a Federal crime involving the U.S. government! So what? So everything! Our sins are not just against our neighbor, friends, self and society...they are ultimately against God! And just what is the size that the nature of such wrongdoing? It takes on the size, the seriousness, the degree of the size of the Offended One....Infinity!
Thus, our dilemma: if even we would want to "do" something to pay God back, just how long would be have to work? Infinity! To even volunteer to take our punishment would consign us forever to punishment. Our problem is NOT what we can DO, but who we ARE. We need to be changed inside out, and our debt to God needs to be able to be paid by someone who can take our place as a bonafide human who does not have issues himself to deal with (perfect man), but also a human who is qualified to pay a pricetag marked "infinite!" (fully divine) And just where can we find such an answer to our greatest problem? JESUS!
HE'S THE ANSWER! He is the miracle of history. He is the genius of God's rescue plan for us as fallen rebels. Only Christianity has the answer to humanity's greatest need. A genuine perfect human substitute to take our place of punishment and be capable of satisfying its infinite dimension, extent and duration.
JESUS is truly THE answer. He is God as the eternal second person of the trinity of the Godhead. He is God incarnated in human flesh and blood. He was miraculously conceived of Mary in her virginity by the power God the Holy Spirit, thus fully human, yet preserved from inheriting the sinful nature transferred from Adam. He lived a perfect life that is available to be transferred to our account, made possible by His substitutionary transaction of our sin-debt by taking our curse in humiliation and death on the cross. His dual nature of both humanity and divinity satisfied the dilemma we all face: able to take our very place and punishment as a human; able to pay our endless debt in 3 hours by means of His full infinitude of deity.
Why do we cast all our hope on JESUS? He didn't stay dead! Just as He predicted, He rose again, came to life to live forever. His word is good. His promise is true. His way is proven. His authority is vindicated. His solution is exclusive and certain.
All He is has been certified. All He has forecast will occur. Regardless of the doubts of people, the rigors of faith, the opposition of naysayers, the troubles of living...WE BELIEVE! And we are learning to walk with Him, know Him, love Him, serve Him, trust Him....as we wait for His literal, promised, nearer-than-when-we-first-believed return. We invite you to put your full trust in Him, too, and join us now and forever in His awesome plan for those who accept Him while there is opportunity in this life here.

Plan of Salvation
Is Heaven Your Eternal Home? Amos 3:3 “Can two walk together except they be agreed?”
We must agree with God if we want to walk with Him in Heaven throughout eternity. We must:
1. Agree with God on our condition.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” We are sinners in God’s sight. We are not perfect and have failed to live up to the Lord’s requirements for our lives.
2. Agree with God on our consequences.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Just as death separates us from our loved ones, sin separates us from God. Our penalty for sin is eternal death and separation from Him.
3. Agree with God on our cure.
II Corinthians 5:21 “For He hath made Him to be sin for us Who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” God gave His Son, Jesus, to take our place and suffer for our sins on the Cross. Jesus can cleanse us and change our heart to live for Him.
4. Agree with God on claiming our cure.
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.” We do not become God’s children through our own deeds or efforts of self worth. We must repent of our sins (agree with Him on our condition and on our sin’s consequences) and turn to Jesus in faith. We place our trust in Christ to forgive us, give us His own righteousness, and change us into what He wants us to be. We depend on Him to do all the work that needs to be done.
Prayer of Salvation
“Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I am sorry for my sins. I realize that I deserve to be separated from you, but you died for me to save my soul. Please forgive my sins, and give me your righteousness. I trust you as my Lord and Savior and I am depending on you to change my life that I may live to please you. Thank you for being my Savior and making me one of your children. Amen.”
If you just prayed this prayer from the heart, we believe you are saved and we'd love to know about it and love for you to make First Baptist Church your home.
